AMBIEVENT - trace encounters | Ambient Musik in Wien

What if music didn’t ask for your attention, but simply surrounded you? On 20 November in Vienna, AMBIEVENT invites you into an immersive environment dedicated to ambient music — a space where sound, light, texture, scent and visual art come together to create an experience that goes beyond listening. From the Latin ambire, meaning “to surround”, ambient is less a genre than a way of inhabiting sound. It can be subtle or overwhelming, familiar or strange, something you actively listen to or simply allow to exist around you. Throughout the night, artists from Vienna and beyond will move between DJ sets and live performances, exploring different shades of ambient, experimental and classical music. Rather than following a fixed narrative, the evening will unfold as a continuous sonic landscape, leaving space for each artist — and each listener — to experience it in their own way. But at AMBIEVENT, sound is only one part of the environment. The space itself becomes one of the protagonists. Through stage design, visual art and sensory elements, the physical surroundings are transformed into an extension of the music. An exhibition of artworks will inhabit the first room, while a unique scent created for the event by Nēomirage will fill the air, adding another invisible layer to the experience. Every element is designed to interact with the others, creating an environment that can be listened to, observed, felt and inhabited. In a world that constantly competes for our attention, AMBIEVENT proposes something different: a space to slow down, drift, listen, explore, or simply be. A place where the audience is not just surrounded by music, but becomes part of the atmosphere itself.
