But while the sound of our voices is celebrated, we have had few opportunities to actually tell our own stories. In Caged Bird, creator and performer Zina Ellis weaves together history, sociology, personal stories, song, and her signature sense of humor to explore the past, present, and future of Black women in musical theatre.
