VLAN RADIO presents HEAVY LISTENING HEAVY LISTENING puts music first: immersive, patient and made for attentive ears. Ambient, New Age, Dub, Downtempo, Tribal and experimental electronics meet in a format that offers an alternative to the accelerated rhythms of digital culture and the constant pull of short-form content. HEAVY LISTENING - Season Closing Doors 20:00 20:00 Ebhardy (DJ) 21:00 Sanna Lu Una (Live) 22:00 Archetype (Live) 23:00 A_Phan (Live) 24:00 Moosiqunt (DJ) 01:00 Annietime (DJ) Paul Ebhart, lives and works in Vienna. Sporadic musical interruptions laying over perpetual ostinatos complement the sonic world of Ebhart with expertise and amateurism in a constant tension ratio. Fully dedicated to loose structures and improvisation as a core element. Likewise aiming for rhythmic repetition and synthetic sequences, supported by heavy signal processing. https://paulebhart.bandcamp.com Sanna Lu Una creates new worlds with her music, splashing into the wide waters of avant-garde pop, only to joyfully break the bounds of the genre over and over again. Her songs address existentialist questions, playfully wrapped in fantastic imagery. The lyrics are like a dream language, communicating in metaphors and symbols, enabling vivid and visual reflection. https://sannaluuna.bandcamp.com Archetype is an abstract scream for something quite fragile, exploring personal experiences of a polarising society and disruptive isolation. Contrastingly, the project embraces digitized, precise sound design with bold hooks and dramatic vocals, evoking industrial trip-hop and post-punk-leaning electronics. https://archetype1994.bandcamp.com With his moniker A_Phan, Manuel Cyrill shifts his focus to the outer reaches of techno. Modulation sources, tape loops, and field recordings become anchor points in his sonified alpine mountain wall, situated at the borders between syncopated rhythms and intricate sound structures. A_Phan never sounds detached, but always remains grounded. The element of chance that lends patronage to improvisation is the essence of a counter-movement that neither predicts nor attempts to calculate the listeners. It’s an altruistic approach that A_Phan reveals, whispering through modulated tension: "Let yourself fall!". https://soundcloud.com/aljhonphan Moosiqunt (Ferdinand Doblhammer) is a musician, DJ and media artist based in Vienna. Drawing on the early dubstep and 2-step sounds of the British club culture around 2000, he moves towards experimental electronic music. His sets oscillate between the sheer physical force of basslines and granular sound design, treating rhythm as a material to be stretched, fragmented and reassembled. For his performances with Lea Karnutsch, he created sound-reactive objects that incorporate the performers’ movements into the live sets. His performances have taken him to cities including Leicester, Budapest, Berlin and Turin, where he has played both clubs and independent art spaces. https://soundcloud.com/moosiqunt Rooted in her family heritage and musical influences from the former Yugoslavia, annietime combines warm, emotional soundscapes with playful, rhythmic elements from around the world. Drawing on her diverse musical background, she creates productions that resist clear categorization and reflect her passion for music in all its forms. Alongside her work as a producer, she has contributed to numerous projects, including recording, mixing and mastering for film productions, fashion labels, renowned pianists, and collaborative works with artists from a wide range of disciplines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fecq06u7tYM Looking forward to seeing you there! 🧭 With kind support of the City of Vienna/MA 7.
