Zach Brock im Smalls Jazz Club

Zach Brock is a multiple-Grammy–winning violinist with Snarky Puppy, described by critics as the pre-eminent improvising violinist of his generation. He began improvising in childhood alongside classical study, earned a violin performance degree at Northwestern University, and developed across the creative music communities of Chicago and New York. In 2005 Dave Douglas invited him to perform at Carnegie Hall; in 2007 he joined Stanley Clarke following a recommendation from Jean-Luc Ponty. As a leader he has released ten solo albums spanning acoustic trios, layered string works, and groove-forward electric projects; he is also a current guest member of Ahn Trio. Forthcoming: Somni, an orchestral collaboration with Snarky Puppy and Metropole Orkest with Jules Buckley. Brock was also DownBeat’s 2013 Rising Star Violinist and is a sought-after educator.
